New Poem --- "Universals"

This one was for Dr. Patrick, the craziest Platonist I've ever known.

UNIVERSALS.

Think of yourself
As a speck of star-dust
Long-lost from your point of
Origin.

Now think of yourself
As a member of god-spell
Verses.

For each man, woman, & child
Imports his vice + virtues
Into Christ's wearied Eyes.

Now think of yourself
As the author of your own
Story.

Which particulars matter?
Which don't?
Which characters will live?
Which characters will die?
Who survives & thrives?

But Where Am I
In All This Vast
Universe?

CIGS Pilot Script Finished

Just put on some final touches last night. Of course, the formatting freaked out. Oh well.

Doing a walk-through or 2 in the next couple of days. Have something on youtube in a week or two.

Also, I've got a lot of pre-production type help on "Melancholics Anonymous". Still deep in writing & re-writing the script.

My project in the interim is called "For Somebody", and with any luck I can film it with my friends from Tyler, Tejas.

Till then, I'm signing off.

Thru Days of Splendor...

Here's the one for the day. It was written post-Denver, and it remains very poignant for me. I find it ironic now, however, because I eventually fell in love with Zooey Deschanel, who ended up playing "Summer Finn" in (500) Days of Summer. So, in other words, they stole my idea. :P

HIGH LIGHTS
-----------------------------------

I lazed away and tasted days,
I gazed on stupor and drank
Malaise,
Thru Days of Splendor,
Days so young.

Where was the song,
The Savor?
Where find the grace,
The Savior?

Summer had stolen my soul
-- Alas! --
With sunny rays.
How Child-like Golden!

Summer has stolen my soul
-- Alas! --
With sunny rays.
How Midas Golden!

Summer stole my soul --
A lass...
...With sunlit strands...
How Seeming Golden.

New Song -- "To The Spaniards Down Below..."

This one's about to Spanish inmates commiserating and trying but failing to escape their prison. It's fairly infernal stuff. But man, is it fun to throw a little flamenco flair on the gih-tar!

---------------------------------------------------
"To The Spaniards Down Below..."

Cortez:     I have no place to go.
I have no place to call my own.

Roderigo: I have nothing to do.
                 I haven't got a hope or a clue.

Cortez:     But hey! Let's say, let's say, let's say instead:

                 Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Oh!
                 Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Oh!
                 Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Oh!

                 Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Oh!
                 Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Oh!
                 Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Ally-oop! Oh!

C'mon! Let's hop on outta here!

Roderigo: I can't! I see the dark and the fear!

Cortez:     Just bend the bars!

Roderigo: I can't! The bar's too large

Cortez:   Just bend the bars!

Roderigo: I can't! The sky's too far!

Cortez: Just bend the goddamn bars!

Roderigo: Cortez! The guards!

Cortez: Bend the--

Roderigo: Guards!

Cortez: Here come the guards.

Both: Oh, oh, oh, oh....OH.
